Mission
"To share with visitors to Rieck's Lake Park a knowledge of and an appreciation for the tundra swan and the associated flora and fauna of the Mississippi River valley."
   Alma Tundra Swan Watch

About the Volunteers
During the fall migration, the observation platform at Riecks Lake Park is staffed daily by volunteers. Tour groups can arrange for a guide by calling (608) 248-3499.

The U.S. Fish & Wildlife, the Alma Rod and Gun Club and donations by visitors have provided spotting scopes for your use on the platform. A permanently-mounted spotting scope has been placed on the second level of the observation deck. The scope was made possible by a memorial gift from the family of Carol M. Knutson, Mt. Iron, MN.

About the Observation Platform
Built with U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service funds with the cooperation of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the platform is maintained by the city of Alma. In 1998, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service was awarded a challenge grant to expand the Watchable Wildlife platform at Riecks Lake. Contributions from individuals and area businesses met the challenge grant award resulting in the doubling of platform space. Both of these platforms are handicapped accessible.
